Description

The Cochin Connection. Two against the drugs trade: A true story by Brian and Alison Milgate. In the spring of 1982 two young Australians, Brian and Alison Milgate, left home in their yacht Tiger Rag for Plymouth and the start of the Observer Transatlantic Race. They lost their steering in a tropical storm off Sri Lanka, and limped into the southern Indian port of Cochin for repairs. There they encountered the burly, domineering Jim Howard - and found themselves caught up in a nightmare from which, it seemed, they would never be free. Brian is a marine surveyor and naval architect, and it was agreed that he would supervise work on Howard's yacht, in exchange for Tiger Rag's new steering, to be shipped out to Cochin on his next trip to England. For all his bluff jocularity, Howard was a far more dubious figure than he first appeared.
