Description

Auschwitz In England by Mavis M. Hill barrister-at-law and L. Norman Williams barrister-at-law. Foreword by The Right Honourable Lord Denning. On 22 June 1962 Dr. Dering, a London doctor of Polish origin, issued a writ for libel against the author and publishers of the best-selling novel Exodus. In that novel, on a page describing the appalling horrors of Auschwitz, reference was made to a 'Dr. Dering' - in connection with human guinea pig experiments. The subsequent trial raised issues far beyond the law. It posed questions of morals and human behaviour in the grimmest adversity. Many of the survivors of Auschwitz came to England to give evidence, and their words recalled the nightmare events of the darkest chapter in human history.
