New Zealand Now by Oliver Duff. In 1940 (the hundredth anniversary of New Zealand) the Government commissioned a number of authorities to produce surveys on various aspects of New Zealand life and history. Volumes were written on farming, on exploration, on women's part in the community, and various other subjects. None was more favourably received than Mr. Oliver Duff's volume - New Zealand Now (which sold out in record time). This was no documented or statistical analysis. It was, rather, an impressionistic sketch of New Zealand life. The author revised his book again fifteen years later in 1955 and wrote of the similarities. The dust jacket has light fading down the spine, price is unclipped and covered with clear plastic. The book has light foxing on the front and rear inside pages but overall still a tight and bright copy. Previous owners name or inscription on inside front page.
