London, Richard Bentley, New Burlington Street. Publisher in Ordinary to Her Majesty. MDCCCLII (1852). This three volume set has Leather bound spine and corners and appears to have had marbled paper covers over the original cloth covers. New replaced inside front and back paste down pages at some stage, medium to heavy foxing of most pages in all volumes but bindings still intact and strong. All illustrations appear to be present, with some still having the protective tissue in place. The Leather spine on all volumes are well worn with a split across volume 1 title plate and a split lifting on the lower spine of volume 2. Some pencil inscriptions on the inside front page of volume 1 by previous owner and also pencil notes around some of the early illustration pages. Overall a well read set with various repairs and age worn but still complete and very readable.
