Description

God In The New World by Lloyd Geering. In November 1967, charges of heresy were brought against Professor Lloyd Geering, Principal of Knox Theological College, Dunedin, before the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. After a dramatic two-day trial, the Assembly judged that no doctrinal error had been established, dismissed the charges and declared the case closed. The hearing came as a climax to many months of controversy, within and without the Presbyterian Church, which followed the publication of articles by Professor Geering that questioned widely-held beliefs on the Resurrection and the immortality of the soul. In essence, Professor Geering posed a question for people of the mid-tweentieth century: Should the creed be fossilized as a dead form, or should Christians be real men and think for themselves? The dust jacket has several medium sized chips out and tape repair but the book remians in a very tidy condition.
