Description

The Penguin Book of English Romantic Verse. Edited with an introduction by David Wright. What used to be called the Romantic Revival in English poetry was sometimes reckoned to have begun with the publication of Lyrical Ballads in 1798 and to have more or less ended with the death of Byron in 1824. By then Shelly and Keats were dead, and Wordsworth and Coleridge mainly silent. Since most English poetry labelled 'Romantic' - which includes some of the best English poetry ever written - belong to this period. - From the introduction. The book has tape repair down the spine but remins tight and bright.
