Description

Outrageous Fortune. Huia Mase had crammed an unusual amount of career activity into her life. Born in New Zealand, the daughter of a blind, itinerant street musician, her childhood was spent with her father, Charles Bloomfield. They travelled up and down the country living in theatrical hotels, as he kept himself and his child alive by playing gramophones in the gutters and gambling on the race courses. In her early teens Huia became a soap-box orator for the New Zealand Labour party; then a film publicity agent, and then went into journalism. Dust jacket has tape repair and light stains on page edges but overall tidy condition.
