Description

JPR - J. P. R. Williams. "At seventeen he won the Wimbledon Junior Tennis title, by which time he was also playing in the Glamorgan Youth Orchestra as violinist. At nineteen, after learning his skill as a rugby player in the harsh school of Welsh rugby, he won his first full Welsh cap against Scotland in 1969. He was part of all-conquering Lions side that toured New Zealand in 1971 and South Africa in 1974, and has been at the centre of Wales' Grand Slams for the last ten years. In 1978 he was appointed captain of the Welsh team and in May 1979 finally retired from international rugby after a career which rightly earned him the reputation of being the greatest full-back in the world. Now a successful doctor, JPR has written his own story - an engrossing and entertaining account by the most talented sportsman of the twentieth century. Tidy and well kept overall in good condition.
