A Dentist at Large by Roy Hanan. Signed by the author with an inscription to his old school. 'This book is not a family history nor is it in the definitive sense an autobiography. In 1862 a venturesome young man from Ireland settled in New Zealand with his wife and infant son and for over a century the name Hanan has been closely associated with the city of Invercargill. The city was represented in parliament for nearly sixty years by two descendents of that family. The last member of his generation has now written "A Dentist at Large" which briefly depicts parts of the family life and relates a wide range of interesting incidents and experiences, at times amusing, at others tragic.'
