Description

Little Cyclone by Airey Neave. "Courage is infectious, and one can often be sustained in danger of difficulty by the proximity of another stronger than oneself. But to remain stubborn and true alone and under torture is surely the ultimate test. This book concerns people of that calibre." From the Foreword by Group-Captain Douglas Bader. Among the prisoners who emerged from the concentration camps of Germany at the liberation of France in 1945 was Andree de Jongh, the Belgian girl who had created an escape route for Allied servicemen from Brussels to Bilbao. Known as the Comet Line, it was the greatest escape route in the Resistance Movement and in its three years of life saved over 800 Allied airmen and soldiers from captivity and returned them to England. "Little Cyclone" was a suitable pseudonym for a girl whose enterprise and energy inspired all who met her.' The dust jacket has light general wear with small closed tears and rubbing down the edges, price is unclipped. The book has light foxing down the page edges but remains tight and bright.
