Description

On and Off the Rails. A Railwayman's Story by J. M. Grainger. Even in the jet age, railway engines continue to interest people, young and old. The blustering steam locomotive is disappearing to make way for the efficient diesel, but the attraction of the railway is ever there. The author's affection for trains began, as he says, at about the age of four and he was not satisfied until he persuaded his father to let him join the railways. He was determined to become an engine driver - and he did. The dust jacket is a little creased and has a couple of closed tears but the book remains in a tight and tidy condition. Previous owners name or inscription whited-out on inside front page.
