Description

Glenaray: Waikaia - Southland A History of Southland's Largest Pastoral Run. An account of the tenure of the former pastoral runs now amalgamated in Run No. 626. Compiled by Peter M. Chandler. 'Glenaray is a household name in Southland, for the large pastoral property which has been owned by the Pinkney family since 1898. To John Gow's original run (No. 328), successive owners added parts of adjoining holdings, the last major addition being made as recently as 1905-06. Each acquisition is explained, starting from the original owner and following through to incorporation in the present Glenaray. This history includes biographical material on past owners, details of stock, an account of past management, a list of known employees and the origin of district place-names.' The dust jacket has light general wear with some foxing along the top and bottom edges. The book has a previous owners name whited-out on the inside front page but remains tight and bright. The map is present in the back cover pocket.
