Once A Marine - Always A Marine by Captain Edward Parsons. 'Captain Parsons was born in 1900, and enlisted in the Royal Marine Artillery in 1918. In an adventurous career with the Rotal Mariines and the New Zealand Regular Force, he did his share of sea time, was in Turkey during the confrontation with Kemal Pasha, 1922-23, spent a happy period with the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, and during the 1939-45 war, was involved in the Defensc of Britain, and the invasion of Sicily and Normandy. He became a Founder Life Member of the Royal Marines Association, and hs been an executive member of several Ex Servicemen's organisations in New Zealand, including The King's Empire Veterans and the Army Association. For many years he has been active in the administration of cricket, thoroughbred breeding and racing.'
