'Here is a book which for the first time shows us what life on active service with 2nd N.Z.E.F. looks like through the eyes of a nurse. The author, who went overseas in the early days of the war with the N.Z. Army Nursing Service in several of the Army Hospitals in the Middle East and Italy and she describes in graphic detail a number of her experiences on duty and off. Incidents in the wards illustrate the spirit of our men, who, badly hurt though some of them were, refused to accept defeat. The brighter side of hospital life is also dealt with at some length showing the ingenuity and courage of patients and staff in all sorts of trying conditions'. The dust jacket is in a fair-Poor condition with additional backing paper having been pasted onto the inside of it. The book has light to medium general wear with bumps to the corners and some light foxing on the latter pages. A newspaper book review has been pasted on the inside front cover and a very tidy Christmas greeting in pen on the inside front page dated 1944/45.
